Rittenhouse Needlepoint is building a charity program to introduce the craft of needlepoint to new audiences and to help avid needlepointers get rid of their surplus canvases and threads.
Our idea is simple:
- 1. We have a weekly free class for beginners that includes instruction on the basic needlepoint stitch (Continental method) as well as background information on needlepoint in general.
- 2. Teach needlepoint to individuals facing economic, physical and/or mental challenges.
- 3. Allow participants in the program to choose a project for themselves from the materials that our customers have donated.
The program could be either ongoing (a monthly class) or a one-time event depending upon the desires of those involved.
Are you interested in this charitable initiative of Rittenhouse Needlepoint?
Perhaps you have canvases/thread you would like to donate? Or maybe you would like to teach needlepoint to others? Do you know of an organization that might like to participate?
