A huge butterfly sits on the head of a young girl, as if it were an oversized crown, or maybe rather a Chinese head-dress. Indeed little trinkets are hanging from it, as if it were adorned with pearls and flowers, in the manner of a traditional Phenix crown worn by Chinese noblewomen on special occasions, such as weddings.
By contrast, the young girl with closed eyelids, is simply dressed, in a no-frills cardigan, and no jewelry, except for a single key hanging from her ear, a regular leitmoitif found in many Barbara Ana Designs.
The focus here however is on the large butterfly, wings colorful and richly adorned, antennas blooming into flowers, and its whole body aiming for the sun. A pretty metaphor for a feminine soul aspiring for spring and sunny days.
