Learn how to mend and repair your clothes using a few simple tools and hand-stitching techniques. Marisa will give a short, informative presentation on the history of mending and show you mended items from her own closet. Then she will dive into hands on instruction of several mending techniques.
You will leave the class with the skills to repair jeans, sweaters and more. Mending is a fun and rewarding way to add flair to your favorite items of clothing and keep them out of landfills!
Marisa Simon has over 25 years of experience in the craft industry as a stitcher, needlearts educator, and sewing machine specialist. She currently works as an independent fabric sales representative which takes her to fiber arts stores throughout New Jersey and the NYC metro area. In addition to working in the fabric industry, Marisa hosts a radio show on WPRB 103.3FM where she plays lovely music and discusses current trends in the world of craft. The class kit includes: a handy canvas zip pouch, glass head pins, needles, threads, fabric that will be used during the class, along with a 3" embroidery hoop, a darning egg, and Japanese thread snips.
