Want to create stitchwork that pops off the fabric? Join fiber artist and author Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ to learn stumpwork on Saturday, October 25th.
Stumpwork is a type of textural embroidery that uses padding and wire to create sculptural elements that stand out from the fabric or canvas creating 3D elements. Stumpwork can be applied to all types of needlework to create stunning special effects.
In this 3 hour class you’ll learn how to make wire slip butterfly wings. These wings will be moveable and flutter away from the fabric. The butterfly will be mounted onto a brooch base so you can wear your creation.
Melissa Galbraith of M Creative J was born and raised in the desert of Washington state, where her mother instilled a love of making things by hand at an early age. Drawing on her love of nature, Melissa creates whimsical and modern embroidery patterns and kits. She loves that embroidery allows her to play with texture and color and is also a portable craft.
All materials are included in the class. This class is best suited for intermediate to advanced stitchers.
