This crazy quilt appears to have started its life in the 1940s and continued to be used and repaired through the 1960s. There are patches over patches in some areas of this well loved piece. The fabrics are all cottons. The older fabrics have faded to soft pastels and the new fabrics have a bit more saturated color. It was all hand sewn except for the backing. The light blue cotton backing was most likely a replacement at some point it its life and is machine sewn along the edges. It was then hand tied. The ties are thinner white thread instead of yarn, so are more subtle. It has that wonderful broken in cotton hand feel that makes vintage pieces so great. This piece could use another round of TLC, but has lots of life still left in it. It has scattered shattered patches throughout, but no through holes or very noticeable spots.
Quilt Dimensions: 74 x 86
